Becoming @poresandpomegranates

"SUDDENLY, I FELT LIKE MY LIFE HAD A BIT MORE BALANCE AND I WAS MORE IN CONTROL."

I never really had a reason to get into skincare. I never experienced bad acne, and no one in my family was really into it. I have always had a basic skincare routine with a cleanser and moisturizer, did a face mask here and there, but that was really the extent of my skincare. And then university hit. I had a really rough time at the beginning of my first year making friends as well as adjusting to university life. It was also a huge learning curve and I felt kind of overwhelmed with the situation and wanted to focus on myself.

Whenever I thought of pampering myself, I thought of going to a spa. Obviously, I couldn’t afford that because hello, I’m in university and on a budget!! So, I decided to bring the spa to me. I started off slowly, experimenting with face masks. That little act of spending a half hour on ME had a really unexpected effect: suddenly, I felt like my life had a bit more balance and I was more in control.

Slowly I began incorporating different cleansers or introducing a new toner into my routine. I even began splurging on eye creams and other interesting products. Like I said before, my skin had never really been bad, but it hadn’t been amazing either.

As I experimented with products, I found what worked for my skin and what didn’t. I also started figuring out which textures and scents I liked, and which I could live without. And then I began to see results! My skin actually went through a transformation from dull to glowy! And lo and behold, I actually started to become more confident in my own skin.

"I SAY, IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD, THEN IT'S WORTH IT!"

This transformation started my obsession with skincare and practicing of self-care. Now, here I am, with a dedicated skincare Instagram! The skincare community is absolutely amazing – I have found a group of amazing girls and guys who share my passion. I love hearing what they have to say about new products and what I should and shouldn’t use.

If you’ve seen my Instagram you may have noticed that I have no restraint when it comes to buying skincare products, but hey, I say, if it makes you feel good, then it’s worth it!
